Yesterday I ran to the store to get some food, you know, that stuff that keeps you alive.
I crossed an old man at my path who warmly greeted me "strange I thought, do I know him?". I walked on, catching myself smiling for some unknown reason.

A couple of minutes later I'm at the counter, where this girl sits on her chair beeping your stuff past the lazer. I said "hi" and "here you go" when I paid for my goods and "thank you" when she gave me my change. I smiled at her and by the way she had lifted her downcast eyes I wouldn't be surprised it was her first smile she saw that day. She returned my smile as if thanking me for noticing her.

Everyday again I notice how people have become asocial creatures that avoid any kinda interaction with a person they concider "a stranger".

Now adays we rather stand at a busstop for 30 minutes without sharing a single word to the other person there next to you, waiting for that same bus.
In the best cases you might get a glance and a nod meaning 'hi' but they'd be damned if they would do more than that.

Even here on DA I've found it near impossible to start a conversation with people I would think ones interest lay simular to yours. It's clear we like to mind our own business and throw in an occasional "ta for the fav". But it all ends there.
