Shar - The Lady of Loss

Description

Shar - The Lady of Loss and Mistress of the Night.

I've chosen to draw Shar since she's to me one of the most interesting evil aligned deities that The Forgotten Realms has to offer.
Her evilness lies hidden in such subtle manners that most of them can be also found within every dark corner of our mortal heart. She symbolises one of our strongest emotions: to do wrong to those that wronged you.

As she's discribed as a beautiful woman with raven black hair dressed in a black garb, I decided to take this approach instead of the warrior princess look she has in the Faiths & Pantheons manual. Which I personally don't like that much.
I choose not to show her face, but a mask that symbolises the feeling of loss and mystery.
The peacock feathers where an inspiration from the greek goddess Hera, first lady of Olympos, who also was often depicted with peacock feathers. I found this a fitting theme for Shar.

She's is also the deity my first d&d character converted too after she learned the bitter truth of her parents death. A feeling that was nurtured by a dark mentor whom she killed in the end by a moment of raging emotions.
She feared the wrath of the goddess for this action, but instead the goddess came to her, telling her that she shows great promises and that she has still a role to play in the things to come.

Thanks goes to the awesome :icontasastock:
who was so kind to provide me with a starting pose! *hugs*
